Who is eligible for an Evolving Earth Foundation Student Grant?
Undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers at accredited U.S. colleges and universities or research institutions are eligible to apply for grant funding.
If I am student at a college / university / institution that is outside the U.S., am I eligible for an Evolving Earth Foundation Student Grant?
No. At this time, grants are available for students at U.S. institutions only.
What award amounts can I apply for?
Evolving Earth offers amounts of up to $3,000 per grant. A total of 10 grants are available each year.
How are grant funds distributed?
If your application is successful, we will contact the grant administrator listed on your application to coordinate the grant award. Award checks are written to the institution, not to the applicant.
How do I know whether my research is eligible for an Evolving Earth grant?

Is a letter of recommendation required?
Yes. A letter of recommendation from your advisor is required. The letter should be sent separately via email in PDF format only to: [email protected]
How do I format my application?
We do not have specific formatting requirements for grant applications. Proposals may be single or double spaced and we do not restrict fonts or font sizes. We ask that you use common sense and make sure the end result is clearly legible.

How do I learn the status of my application?
All applicants will be notified of funding decisions by April 30th. Notifications are sent out by letter, so please ensure your mailing address on the application form is correct. Contact us at [email protected] if you have not received a letter by the notification deadline. All decisions are final.
Where can I see a list of grant award winners?
What kind of reporting is required for grant award winners?
We require annual, informal progress updates for your grant-funded project, due May 1st of each year until your project is complete or grant funds are expended. Within sixty days of the completion of your project or the expenditure of all grant funds, we request a formal final report that discusses the results of your project and accounts for the use of grant funding. You may also be invited to share your results in our News section.
