Travel Journal, Page 1 of 3
By Thomas A Dillhoff, Pasco, Washington

Dinosaur National Monument covers a large area of northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado. The headquarters for the monument are located near Dinosaur, Colorado but the main attraction is the Dinosaur quarry located approximately 20 miles east of Vernal, Utah. This quarry was originally discovered in 1909 by Earl Douglass from the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, who came to the area searching for dinosaur fossils. Several nearly complete dinosaur skeletons were extracted from the quarry over a period of many years.
