Florissant National Monument, Colorado
Thomas A. Dillhoff, Everett, Washington

The walking trails make the trip worthwhile. They range from short trails near the visitor center that take you past fossilized sequoia stumps:

and a small fossil quarry:

to longer trails that take you through the monument so that you can appreciate the natural beauty of the site. There is also a self-guided driving/hiking tour of the area that takes you through the region and explains the geology and formation of the lake deposit.
